Following an announcement made at the recent Advent Sunday service, the Revd Ned Lunn will start as the Canon for Intercultural Mission and the Arts at Bradford Cathedral in early 2023.
This position is a significant and important role at Bradford Cathedral, with Revd Ned having primary responsibility for the mission outreach and engagement with children and schools; leading the arts and events teams; enabling the communication of the Christian faith with intercultural understanding and integrity; and demonstrating our responsibility for God’s Kingdom in the Cathedral’s move towards Net Zero.
The Very Revd Andy Bowerman, Dean of Bradford, says:
“We’re very excited to have the Revd Ned Lunn to join the team.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience in the creative arts, and we look forward to him sharing these gifts with us in the coming year, particularly as we focus our creative imagination towards Bradford 2025”.
The Revd Ned Lunn has been part of the Bradford Cathedral clergy team in the second half of 2022, as ‘Interim Missioner’. He says:
“I have been volunteering at Bradford Cathedral on the welcome team and the livestreaming team since moving to Bradford in April. I have loved getting to know the community and hearing the excitement for the future, particularly the role the cathedral could play in the City of Culture 2025.
“Before ordination I worked as a theatre producer, director and designer as well as in arts management.
“I am looking forward to working with the events, visitors and welcome teams, as well as continuing to support our engagement with the arts, so that we continue to grow in confidence to be voices of hope and hospitality in our beautiful city.
“I am married to Philippa who serves as Interim Associate Minister in Allerton, Fairweather Green and Clayton. We love walking, food and board games. I also perform regularly as ‘part Fool(ish)’, an improvised comedy group.”
The installation of the Revd Ned Lunn should take place at an Evensong in late January 2023. More details will follow.
FAO Ned Lunn
Dear Ned
I am writing on behalf of Art and Christianity (Ben Quash, a Canon of Bradford, is a trustee) to ask if you might like to have a conversation about 2025 and City of Culture programming? We’d love to help if you would be interested. It seems like a great opportunity for the Cathedral to have some engagement with the visual arts.
Do be in touch if you are able to – probably after Easter now!
All best
Laura
Thank you for your message – we’ve forwarded your details on to Canon Ned.
