On 9th April we were delighted to welcome Peter and Jane Blunt to Bradford Cathedral. Peter is the grandson of Bishop Alfred Blunt, who served as the second Bishop of Bradford, from 1931 to 1955. The Blunt family has kindly donated some of Bishop Blunt’s regalia to the Cathedral’s ecclesiastical textiles’ collection, and these items will be included in future tours. The family was delighted that the items are “coming home” as they put it, and will be seen by members of the public in the future.
Mr and Mrs Blunt were accompanied by their friends Nora and John Whitham and enjoyed viewing Bishop Blunt’s portrait and two chairs that had been donated by the Blunt family many years ago and which reside permanently in the Holy Spirit Chapel.
We were also delighted to welcome Laura and her daughter Constance to the Cathedral earlier in the month, who came to see the plaque in memory of Pte Eric Anderson VC, who was her second cousin twice removed. They visited shortly after we marked the anniversary of the events detailed on his memorial plaque online.
