Choral Evensong with the Hope Street Consort

7 7 people viewed this event.

All are welcome to join us for Choral Evensong, a choral setting of Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer (1662), sung by the Cathedral Choir during term time. This is a meditative service in which the congregation participate through their presence and prayerful engagement with the spoken and sung texts.

Choral Evensong on a Sunday also includes a brief sermon.

For further details concerning the music, please refer to the music list which may be found on the music page of the cathedral’s website.

This week we welcome our latest visiting choir, the Hope Street Consort.

The Hope Street Consort is a Liverpool-based vocal ensemble, formed in October 2023, made up of musicians who sing in the choirs of both of the city’s cathedrals. Known for their flexibility in repertoire and clean sound, the consort has quickly gained recognition, earning a special commendation for their performance at their first competition, placing second at the Andrew Downes Performance Prize.

The group regularly performs recitals across the North of England and is scheduled to appear at the Prescot Festival in 2025, alongside other exciting engagements. The Hope Street Consort brings a fresh, dynamic sound to the Liverpool music scene.

Last year, they visited Bradford Cathedral, which was a great success. The consort are looking forward to returning as a visiting choir this summer, singing both Eucharist and Evensong on Sunday 17th August.
