Delius Comes Home: A Night of Music inspired by Bradford’s Greatest Composer
“He belongs to no school, follows no tradition, and is like no other composer.”
– The Times, 1929
Born in Bradford in 1862 to a German immigrant family, Frederick Delius spent his early years roaming the Yorkshire moors. Though he would live much of his life abroad, the atmosphere of those formative surroundings echoes throughout his work.
Now, as Bradford celebrates its year as UK City of Culture 2025, Delius’s music returns to the city of his birth — in the breathtaking setting of Bradford Cathedral.
Some of his best-loved works, including On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring and Late Swallows, will be performed alongside music by composers who inspired — and were inspired by — Delius.
