The Choir for 6-12 year olds will sing as part of the weekly Eucharist – and they’re also looking for new members!
Bradford Cathedral’s Grace Notes is a community choir for children aged 6 to 12. It was founded in 2018, after the cathedral’s first CathedralSing! event, and has fast become a valued part of our musical foundation.
The Choir will perform Mary’s Lullaby by John Rutter.
The Revd Pete Gunstone, Interim Precentor at Bradford Cathedral, says of the service:
“Historically, Mothering Sunday was a day for all Christians to visit the “mother” church of their area. You are welcome to join us for that reason, or simply to celebrate the gift of motherhood in all its forms.”
Graham Thorpe, Acting Director of Music, says:
“On Mothering Sunday we welcome back the Cathedral’s Grace Notes, with their consort of new members from Cathedral Sing! 2023. They will be singing Rutter’s anthem Mary’s Lullaby with the Cathedral’s choristers and lay clerks. This is their first collaboration with the full choir.
“If you know a child aged between 6-12 who loves singing and would like to join the Grace Notes or the choristers, please contact the music department or sign up on the website.”
Everyone is welcome at this service, which starts at 10:30am at Bradford Cathedral, and is also live-streamed via the Cathedral’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. There will also be daffodils handed out to those attending the service.
There are also two additional services held on Mothering Sunday: a Holy Communion (BCP) service at 8am and Choral Evensong at 3:30pm.
The Mothering Sunday service takes place at 10:30am on Sunday 19th March at Bradford Cathedral, and it will also be streamed on YouTube and Facebook.
