Drop into this family friendly afternoon and dip in for our creative packs to explore Jyoti Sahi’s Dalit Madonna and Francis N Souza’s The Crucifixion. Meet and greet the Methodist Modern Art Collection’s resident artist, Imogen Joyce, and resident writer, Becky Cherriman, as they begin their creative work in response to Everything Is Connected.

As part of Bradford’s City of Culture 2025 celebrations, five venues in the Methodist Church’s Yorkshire West District are exhibiting artworks held in the Methodist Modern Art Collection (MMAC), enabling conversations around faith, hidden or overlooked histories, and diverse and marginalised heritage. There is also a series of reproductions of works in the Collection that can be seen at bars and cafés along North Parade in Bradford City Centre.

The two paintings by Sahi and Souza respectively displayed at Bradford Cathedral illustrate the city of Bradford’s long association with South Asian arts and heritage, and the variety of styles and subject matter found within the Methodist Modern Art Collection. It is a privilege to display Souza’s The Crucifixion, the first acquisition to the MMAC in 1962.
