Role Title: Committee Member – Fabric & Advisory Committee

Volunteer Work Pattern: 3 meetings per year (plus any additional as may be required)
Bradford Cathedral, though partly hidden by trees and later buildings, is a striking blend of medieval, 18th-, and 19th-century architecture with 20th-century additions, embodying over a millennium of worship and community history. Today, it remains both a cultural treasure and a living place of worship, with its conservation guided by a strong management plan to ensure its vitality into the future.
We would warmly welcome hearing from experienced professionals with an interest in cathedrals, and the time and specialist skills to, on a voluntary basis, serve on our Fabric Advisory Committees (FAC) that helps to shape our conservation and development.
Serving on an FAC offers a unique chance to form a special bond with one of the great buildings of the city in question and with the people who use and care for it day to day. This role is voluntary. The commitment typically involves three meetings a year, plus time to read and respond to application documents and advice requests, and occasional attendance on site to advise on particular issues
Expressions of interest are invited from specialists in one or more of the following areas:

- Art, stained glass and sculpture – history, theory and practice
- Church history
- Conservation – buildings and objects
- Contested Heritage
- Engineering – structural, mechanical and electrical
- Environmental conservation and management
- Lighting and sound systems – design and installation
- Liturgy and church organisation
- Museums, collections and archive management
- Net Zero Carbon
- Project management in a heritage context
- Public realm, place making and landscape design
- Town planning
- Visitor and heritage management
There is no DBS required for this role.
