Bradford Cathedral seeks the services of choral singers to contribute to the weekly pattern of sung services. Volunteer adult singers will sing in the cathedral choir when required.

Description

  • Volunteer adult singers will sing soprano, alto, tenor or bass in the Cathedral Choir to the highest possible standard for services as outlined in the termly choir schedule, and as agreed with the Director of Music. This may include services over Christmas and Easter
  • Volunteer adult singers will sign up for choir commitments in ChurchSuite by the agreed deadline, and should provide notice of absence as early as possible. We understand that on occasion your commitment may change, however this should be the exception
  • Volunteer adult singers should arrive for rehearsals and services punctually, allowing time to find music and to robe beforehand
  • Volunteer adult singers must sign in and out of the cathedral on the register kept outside the Cathedral Office
  • Musical scores are available on the cathedral website which volunteer adult singers should use to prepare music before rehearsals/services, ensuring the highest possible standard of music making and efficiency. Assistance learning repertoire/solos is available on request
  • Volunteer adult singers should dress smartly when singing for services, including black shoes and,
  • for gentlemen, a tie
  • Volunteer adult singers should always set the best examples of behaviour, preparation and commitment throughout rehearsals and services, for the choristers, probationers and junior choral scholars
  • Volunteer adult singers must abide by the cathedral’s safeguarding policy, and must inform department staff of any safeguarding concerns, if necessary reporting to the Cathedral Safeguarding Officer
  • Volunteer adult singers will inspire children from a wide range of backgrounds to give of their best
