Following on from the announcement at Sunday’s Eucharist service, we can confirm that the Revd Canon Mandy Coutts will be starting later this year as the ‘Start of Ordained Ministries Adviser’ in the Diocese of York, moving on from her post as Canon for Mission and Pastoral Development at Bradford Cathedral.
As part of embedding a culture of lifelong learning, Mandy will be overseeing the formation of those starting ordained ministry from the beginning of their initial formation through to the early stages of a post of responsibility.
Mandy brings with her skills and experience as a teacher and adult educator, rich ministerial and pastoral experience along with a commitment to well-being.
Mandy joins the Lifelong learning team at a time when the formation of ordained ministers who can enable the gifts of others lies at the heart of Living Christ’s Story. Mandy will be involved in encouraging both new and existing patterns of ordained ministry.

“Initially I will be working with the team to create a training plan which builds on the new national formation framework for IME and the Diocese of York’s vision, Living Christ’s Story.
“I am looking forward to working with the curates at such a pivotal time in their learning and supporting them into their first posts of responsibility.
“I am sad to leave, because of the love I have, even more so at such an exciting time for the Cathedral and the city, but deeply grateful for the privilege of being able to serve here.
“It is more than seven and half years ago that God called me to join the community at Bradford Cathedral. It has been an extraordinary journey with extraordinary people in an extraordinary place. And I pray that the love of Jesus will continue to shine brightly and bless the city and people of Bradford.”
