Bradford Cathedral will be celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III in May, by live-streaming the Coronation service on its big screen; hosting a Civic Service of thanksgiving; and organising a litter pick on the streets around the Cathedral.
The Church of England says:
“The Coronation will be a historic moment in the life of our nation, a time to reflect on our history, celebrate who we are and look to our future.
“At its centre is a Christian service in which His Majesty will be anointed as King. It will be rooted in longstanding tradition and Christian symbolism.
“We hope that this might be a moment for the nation and many around the world to encounter the person of Jesus Christ, the servant King, and hear His call to each of us to serve others.”
On Saturday 6th May the Coronation of King Charles III will be live-streamed in Bradford Cathedral on its big screen, with the opportunity to participate in an act of worship. Self-service refreshments will also be available. Broadcast times will be announced soon, and coverage at the Cathedral will continue until after the appearance of the King, Queen Consort and Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
On Sunday 7th May the 10:30am Eucharist will make reference to the historic occasion, and there will be ‘A Civic Service of Thanksgiving for the King’s Coronation’ at 3pm. All are welcome at these services.
The Cathedral will also be participating in the ‘Ring for the King’ where a quarter peel of the Cathedral’s bells will be rung ahead of the Sunday Civic Service.
On Monday there will be ‘The Big Help Out’, which will include a litter pick of the streets around the Cathedral, in conjunction with ‘Don’t Mess with Bradford’.
People are invited to gather at 10am in the Cathedral grounds, and equipment and guidance will be provided, and the session will conclude at 12:30pm with a shared lunch; those taking part are invited to bring their own packed-lunch.
