Why wasn’t his title of Master of Choristers used.
Thank you for your question – we will ask a member of our team and will get back to you if we can get an answer.
We spoken to a member of the team, and it’s not something we have any information on, but it could be that “Organist” was assumed automatically to be Master of the Choristers; that there wasn’t an assistant for all of his time; or maybe they didn’t have an official title of ‘Master of the Choristers’. It could also just be down to the size of the window and fitting the wording on.
