This week we welcomed Geoffrey Woollatt as the new Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral. Geoffrey joins us from Manchester Cathedral where he was Assistant Director of Music.
Geoffrey began his musical career as a chorister at Southwell Minster. Subsequently he attended Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. He has held positions at Chester Cathedral and Glasgow’s St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral before his time in Manchester.
He says, “I’m very much looking forward to working with the team here at Bradford Cathedral, and continuing the good work of my predecessors here.”
You can hear Geoffrey on the Cathedral Organ on Wednesday 1st October as part of the new Wednesday@One Organ Recital season.
We wish our previous Director of Music Graham Thorpe the best of luck in his new position as Assistant Master of Music and Sub-Organist at Norwich Cathedral. Please help us in welcoming Geoffrey to the Cathedral.
Welcome, Geoff! Lovely to have had an unexpected fun meeting last week, and see you soon. As I said, always welcome at my home when in Ilkley.
Lovely to have you join us Geoffrey, we are looking forward to all you will bring to the cathedral and its community especially our musical life, but hope you’ll enjoy other aspects of being part of Bradford Cathedral and Bradford life too – always lots going on! I hear a rumour of a community style choir – yes please!
