If you’ve visited us recently, you’ll have noticed the beautiful arrangements of lillies and other flowers across the building. These displays have been created to celebrate Easter, and it is a great joy to see them in the Cathedral.
The arrangement of lillies beside the altar has been made possible through kind donations given in memory of loved ones. Thanks to all who donated to make this beautiful display possible.
Thanks also go to our volunteer flower team, who work especially hard at this time of year. The photos below illustrate the many steps involved in putting the arrangements together. The lillies go into water several days before they are arranged, which allows the flowers to open up. You may have spotted them in buckets all across the building! Following this, they are carefully positioned into florist foam, which holds water to keep them fresh. Meanwhile, the font display gets carefully put together.
If you visit us over this week you will have a chance to see these beautiful displays- they are well worth the trip.
