We are delighted to announce further support for our Music Department.
The national charity, the Cathedral Music Trust (CMT), has agreed to award Bradford Cathedral a further multi-year grant of £29,550 to support our Music Department.
The grant will fund the Choir’s three professional Lay Clerks, whose contribution is vital to sustaining musical excellence and supporting the continued development of our choir.
The Dean of Bradford Cathedral says:
“We are absolutely delighted that the Cathedral Music Trust (CMT) has decided to award us a further 2-year grant for the choir’s three professional Lay Clerks. CMT’s support has enabled the choir to grow and develop; I look forward to seeing it continue to flourish, with the invaluable support of the Lay Clerks.”

“We are extremely grateful to the Cathedral Music Trust (CMT) for their ongoing support, with a further 2-year grant for our professional Lay Clerks and section leads. The previous CMT 2-year grant meant that we could employ three professional Lay Clerks during the busy year of Bradford UK City of Culture 2025, when the choir performed and recorded a CD with the Black Dyke Band, and appeared in several broadcasts including the BBC’s Christmas Service and Songs of Praise.
This subsequent grant will enable consistent input from professionals who have excelled in providing coaching, modelling and mentoring, and created stability. CMT’s support has also enabled us to extend the Choir’s repertoire range, providing opportunities for choristers to sing more challenging music, expanding musical horizons and helping us to build the Choir of tomorrow.”
We are grateful to the Cathedral Music Trust for this continued investment in the musical life of Bradford Cathedral and look forward to seeing our Choir continue to grow and flourish.
