Happy International Women's Day 2024

International Women’s Day is about recognising the achievements of women and further inspiring and empowering women to be agentic citizens. Through valuing women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. The aim of IWD is to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.

‘To truly include women means to openly embrace their diversity of race, age, ability, faith, body image, and how they identify. Worldwide, women must be included in all fields of endeavour’. For more information, please visit the International Women’s Day website.

‘Women hold up half the sky, and consequently they have a fundamental right to be part of discussions and decision-making that define the future of their families, communities and countries’. (Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee 2023)

Note: Martha is Ghana’s first female ambassador She is a permanent representative to the United Nations in New York.

Women in and Remembered by the Windows at Bradford Cathedral:

Remarkable Women in the Cathedral (KS2-KS3)

Women have long played an important part in Christianity and in local, national and global affairs.

The stories, objects and windows found in Bradford Cathedral testify to the remarkable women who have had a positive influence on Christian belief and practice and who have worked to make the local community and wider world a better place.

We’ve produced a booklet about the heritage and achievements of some of Bradford’s remarkable women; accompanied by a list of suggested activities for children and young people.
