Faith Trail
Bradford Faith Trail: A Unique Opportunity on your Doorstep!
Come and join the hundreds of visitors who will come this year from Bradford – and well beyond it – to participate in an “open door experience” at five of Bradford’s places of worship, from Leeds Road down to Bradford Cathedral
Ever wondered what’s in a church, masjid, mandir or gurdwara? The Bradford Faith Trail offers a unique opportunity to discover a little bit about Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Christian (Roman Catholic and Church of England) faith buildings, about the faiths within and how they link into Bradford’s local community culture and faith heritage. Â
More information
Where do you visit on the Faith Trail?
The Bradford Faith Trail takes in five fascinating places of worship. You can visit as many places of worship as you like – each place of worship will be open for set times and you will be shown round by experienced guides who are there to answer your questions, and to make your visit more informative and enjoyable. You will then be accompanied to the next venue.
When does the Faith Trail take place?
The Faith Trail normally takes place on the first Saturday of the month from March-October and can be walked on foot in a day. The whole trail starts at 10am at St Peter’s Catholic Church and finishes at approx 3:45pm at Bradford Cathedral.
How much does it cost?
There are no entry charges: the Faith Trail is free.
How do I book a place on the Bradford Faith Trail?
Booking is essential. If you would like more information or to book a place please e-mail faithtrail@bradfordcathedral.org as the first contact, or call 01274 77 77 20. Booking closes on the Wednesday before each Faith Trail date.
Upcoming Bradford Faith Trail dates
The Faith Trail meets on the first Saturday of every month from March – October in 2024.

On the day
You are most welcome to walk the full trail today, or to visit just one or two of the venues, and return at a later date to see the others. It is your day. Enjoy!
The route and approximate timings are:
- 10am – Starting time at St Peter’s church, leaving at 10:45. (651 Leeds Road, BD3 8EL)
- 11am – Arrive at the Abu Bakar masjid, leaving at 11:45
- 12noon – Arrive at the Hindu mandir (temple), leaving at 12:45
- 1pm – Arrive at Sikh Gurdwara – whilst there enjoying ‘langar’ vegetarian lunch which is provided free to all – leaving at 2:15
- 2:30pm – 3.15pm – Bradford Cathedral
Opening times: Each of these places of worship is open all year round; and you will never be turned away if you visit even in the depths of winter. However weather conditions and walking safety suggest that the Faith Trail ‘rests’ from November to February.
All ages and backgrounds are most welcome; but children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. Please be aware that the Faith Trail is a long day and the information is tailored towards an adult audience, so may not be suitable for younger children.
Safety when walking between venues: Please understand that the guides at each venue cannot take responsibility for the safety of visitors between venues, even when they are accompanying you en route. We will always follow the route we judge to be safest. But walkers must use their own care and discretion at every road crossing.
Accessibility. There is one quite steep (down) hill section. Accessible toilets are available.
Dress code. Any sensible clothing is fine. Visitors are asked to remove shoes at the masjid, the Hindu temple and the Gurdwara – do bring your own; but if not, there are a number of spares available to borrow at the entrance.
Behaviour code. The whole ethos of the trail is one of enquiry and dialogue, in a spirit of building understanding and friendship, not controversy. Any/ all questions are welcomed – there are no ‘closed’ issues – but questions should be asked in a spirit of respect. If we run out of time, do arrange to call back to any of the venues in your own time.
Feedback is most welcomed and can be sent to us (faithtrail@bradfordcathedral.org)
Photographs can be taken at each of the venues but by all means ask if you are in doubt. You will need to get permission from individuals if they appear in your photographs.

I’ve previously done the Faith Trail myself. Really enjoyed it, learned a lot and met some lovely people. Recommend it to anyone https://t.co/83lwkWgOlO
